The jig is up: Sen. Chuck Winder of Idaho calls out abortion-loving women!

March 22, 2012

If Patton Oswalt could go back in time he would kill George Lucas and “stop him from making the prequels.” I would go back and make John McCain choose another running mate. After watching Game Change, it seems all I’d have to do is simply find Steve Schmidt and harass him will messages (somehow), screaming “Was she vetted on foreign policy? Was Governor Palin vetted on foreign policy, for Christmas’ sake?”

John McCain seems like a good guy. I watched a video the other day where he, very quickly, says:

I think we should respect the right of women to make choices in their lives, and make that clear, and get back on to what the American people really care about. Jobs and the economy.”

Senator Chuck Winder of Idaho takes a different view about the right of women to make choices in their lives.

This Huffinton Post article begins:

The sponsor of an Idaho mandatory ultrasound bill, state Sen. Chuck Winder, made some highly controversial comments Monday during his closing arguments, suggesting women might falsely use rape as an excuse to obtain an abortion.”

The article also states that Winder responded to criticisms that the bill does not make exceptions for rape victims, incest victims or women in medical emergencies “by raising the question of whether women understand when they have been raped.”

Well, I, for one, am happy to know there’s a straight guy out there putting himself in my shoes. First of all, it’s a little known fact that abortions are awesome. It’s like a punk rock party, literally, in a woman’s pants. 1) You never know if angry picketers yelling, “Murderer!” and “Baby killer!” will be shouting directly into your face as you walk in–always good for getting the party started, and 2) Feeling uncomfortable, sad, shamed, on a cold sterile slab under fluorescent lighting is probably the best time that can be had on any given Tuesday. Those women who lie about rape just so they can go through the awesomeness that is an abortion should be ashamed of themselves! The jig is up, lady!! Your hardcore abortion partying days are O-V-E-R. Maybe you didn’t get raped, huh! Maybe you were just having sex with your own husband and didn’t know it! Stupid!

I’m going to have to ask why do these men project so much? I am convinced that these straight men are so obsessed with women’s healthcare and gays getting married because the real underlying concern has to do with a population that does not reproduce and therefore is stealing future taxpaying dollars from them. After all, it really shouldn’t matter that you are raped. Even if your unwanted bastard child grows up and goes to prison, just their presence generates some kind of income for someone. Right?

I cannot figure any other reason for the lack of heart, conscience and over-involvement these people demonstrate. Forcing a woman through two ultrasounds to guilt her into keeping the baby is cruel and a waste of money. I know women who have had abortions, and it scarred them. I literally do not know one woman who has had an abortion who acted like it was no big deal. You don’t have to be the most feeling person on the planet to know it’s an excruciating process and in no way FUN.

This is why women need representation–not by men–but by other women. And not crazy women who want to be men. There is an extreme level of compassion completely absent from this conversation.

For an AMAZING article by Soraya Chemaly entitled, “10 Reasons the Rest of the World Thinks the U.S. Is Nuts,” link is here.

Forcing women to undergo involuntary vaginal penetration (otherwise called rape) with a condom-covered, six- to eight-inch ultrasound probe. Pennsylvania is currently considering that option along with 11 other states. Trans-vaginal ultrasounds undertaken without a woman’s consent are rape according to the legal definition of the word. This violates a woman’s bodily integrity and also constitutes torture when used, as states are suggesting, as a form of control and oppression. Women have the right not to be raped by the state.”

Depriving women of their ability to earn a living and support themselves and their families. Bills, like this one in Arizona, allow employers to fire women for using contraception. Women like these are being fired for not.”

And for once, a comment thread (Chuck Winder, link below) that is stellar!

I think this is how it goes: all human life is good. Anything that threatens human life is bad. If a femal is carrying life inside her, it is good. If she rejects the life inside her for any reason, she is bad. God is the creator of life and the Devil is the destroyer… and because of these ‘facts’, sex must only happen between a married male and female in a committed relationship. This is social engineering masked as religion= punishment and control. (I love how the males never seem to enter into the equation)

Deny the animal and elevate the sublime… good luck with that. I think we’re living on a dying planet and nobody seems to be able to do anything to stop it. How sick is it to force a breeding program onto a dying planet? This whole thing smells of old white men.

I did it again: this time hit a different button other than Spell Check!

“I love how the males never seem to enter into the equation.” It makes sense.

    Dawson–Damn your commenting luck! :D

“now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over… had me belivin’ it was something that I’d done” it’s difficult to see clearly when it’s always somebody else’s fault. The genius of those lyrics is that the dude never sees how he fits into his own tragedy. It’s a woman’s right to choose what happens to her own body, regardless of what idiot knocked her up.

I think there’s some severely broken logic in pitting a handful of people who may or may not be claiming rape in order to obtain an abortion against the very real, traumatizing, scarring and life-changing tragedy of rape. Choosing, as a solution, further punish the rape/molested/and medical-emergancy-punished as a way to outwit the few is indicative of someone with–not only no foot in reality and no perspective–but no conscience whatsoever.

That we have these kinds of people in our midst is scary. I wonder if Winder approves of the Moroccan law that absolves a man any punishment for rape as long as he marries the victim? Punishing victims for someone else’s crime is insane. INSANE.

You know how much I love that song!! The reveal from the woman’s perspective is what makes it so brilliant.

’till all my sleeves are stained red from all the truth that I’ve said…. :)

The receptivity of the female is a fundamental safeguard against poor breeding for most species. Teach men they can rape a girl and then possess her, you’ll have generations of rapists. Sell your daughters like cattle to the powerful old men and you’ll have generations of angry slaves… and teach boys to select for big boobs and you’ll get tired women with lower back problems.

Abortion is a biological and spiritual trauma that no man could ever feel or understand. If instinct tells a woman that conditions are not ‘right’ to bring new life into the world, we should understand she’s already in experiencing pain and provide support, not contempt.

  8. WOW…what is up with all these right-wing men who can only see women as walking incubators??

Dude (speaking to Winder)…is it not possible for you to actually ASK a woman who has been raped or otherwise battered whether or not she believes herself to have actually been raped, BEFORE you make the assumption whether she has or has not??

But I guess that like other men who see women as only sperm deposits and baby factories, only dirty sluts want to terminate pregnancies, right??

What is it about this country that allows assholes like this to obtain political power??

Oh, wait…probably the same thing that allows cretins like Rush to make $30M a year running his mouth.

  9. Lydia Lee says:

That’s the million dollar question, of course. “What is it about this country that allows assholes like this to obtain political power??”

Shame non-hetero men, shame women, control the masses, make future tax payers, blah, blah, blah…
